Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is seriously interested in launching an independent company focused on building an underground network of tunnels, Bloomberg's Max Chafkin reported on Thursday night.
Musk first floated the thought of starting a tunnel company called the Boring Company in Dec on Twitter. The Bloomberg article shows Musk has made improvement on getting his idea to fruition.
Musk has received the domain BoringCompany.com and appointed Steve Davis, a older SpaceX engineer, as innovator of the task. He said the tunnel endeavor will be an seperate company from Tesla and SpaceX.
Musk has started out digging a pit at the SpaceX auto parking whole lot as a "demonstration tunnel" that can hold cars and help as the foundation of underground travelling network. Shane Yanagisawa, an engineer with 25 years of tunnel experience regarding to his LinkedIn , is the task administrator for the demonstration tunnel.
Although Musk doesn't need permits to dig on SpaceX's campus, he's along the way of acquiring permits to eventually extend the tunnel beyond the SpaceX property lines.
Musk said he designs to create an underground network which includes 30 degrees of tunnels for automobiles and high-speed trains like the Hyperloop, in line with the Bloomberg report.
